About the Course
DISCLOSURE
As the B.ED., and the M.ED., Programs of IGHE are designed for preparing teachers for the English medium schools in the private sector in India and abroad, IGHE has decided to operate independently outside the national council for Teacher Education Act. Consequently, the students graduating from IGHE may seek employment opportunities in unaided private schools in India and abroad.
IGHE reserves the right to change the curriculum, course structure and rules relating to administration, admissions, examinations, fee structure, placements and all other matters relating to the degree programs.
This document does not create a binding contract between the IGHE and the students. Details may be modified from time to time for academic and operational reasons. The students will be governed by the latest regulations applicable to them during the relevant academic year. This document is designed to provide the prospective students with information on education programs only. Neither the IGHE nor any third party assumes any liability of any kind to any person for providing this information. THE B.Ed. PROGRAM
(Through Distance Learning)
IGHE has conceived, designed and developed a unique B.Ed., program on distance learning basis to train teachers for the English medium schools in the private sector in India and abroad. The curriculum, pedagogy and evaluation systems adopted by IGHE are similar to those used in the typical colleges of education in India; emphasis is given to the development of domain knowledge and teaching skills. They take foundational, pedagogical and experiential coursework to enable them to meet the students with linguistic, cultural, learning and behavioral diversity.
The B.Ed. Program offered by IGHE is an innovative program. It aims at developing and understanding the competencies required by practicing teachers for effective teaching learning process. The program is essentially a judicious mix of theoretical and practical courses to develop in practicing teacher’s appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes.

Each student must take all the papers under core subjects, any two papers under optional subjects and one compulsory paper under elective apart from practical.

i) Candidates must choose two optional subjects

iii) Other B.A., and B.Sc., graduates must choose English as one of the two optional subjects and others shall be related to their course for study at the B.A/B.Sc., level.B.Com. Graduates should take Commerce and Accountancy Education.
ASSIGNMENTS
Assignments are the integral and compulsory components of the instructional system.

Eligibility
- Admission will be made based on length of service and qualification. On this basis merit list will be prepared and admissions made accordingly. Preference will be given to secondary school teachers.
- A. Bachelor degree from any recognized university in Education (B.Ed)

Education Methodology
The Education Methodology adopts a unique learning approach consisting of the following distinct stages.
Curriculum
The curriculum of the B.Ed., M.Ed., Programs are most contemporary and innovatively designed and develop in association with reputed academicians and experts.
Examinations
The examinations serve to finally assess and certify the student understanding of the subject and level of knowledge and skill development.
The examinations are conceived, Developed and administered on a rigorous and fair basis to bring out the best in the students and prepare them for challenging careers.
Model Question papers with suggested answers are supplied to all students .The students will find them quite useful in familiarizing themselves with the pattern and model of the questions and the way they may be answered.
Award of Degree
All students who successfully complete the B.Ed. program and the M.Ed. program will be awarded the respective Degree by the IGHE. The divisions will be awarded as
- Distinction 75% and above.
- First Division 60% and above but below 74%
- Second Division 50% and above but below 59%
Courseware
IGHE provides comprehensive study package through Information Technology specially designed for independent study. The courseware is revised frequently so as to keep the students up to-date.
All the enrolled students will be receiving the first set of the courseware directly from IGHE Coimbatore, by registered post/courier. The courseware for subsequent groups will be dispatched based on their academic progression and depending on their success in the examinations.
Regular study leads to success
The students of distance learning programs enjoy the flexibility of independent self-study .The students can study at their own pace, time and at their place. Students can take the best advantage of this freedom only if they are methodical in their approach and disciplined in study habits. Here are some useful inputs:
Study everyday regularly for 2 to 3 hours.
Spend more time or study during Weekends and holidays.
Focus on exercises and work out problems.
Passing Requirements
To pass in a group, a student must secure an average of 50 percent marks for all subjects.
